A certain percentage of children have the habit of thinking. One of the aims of education is to cure them of that habit.
Teachers and their unions have been lyign to America for 50 years. Teachers were never under paid. they are under educated. Teaching is by far the easiest degree in most colleges. most teachers can not do math at all. They are simply the low end of the college admissions.
Teachers claim there is a discipline problem in schools and they can do nothign about it: it s the parents fualt. Well that is not true either. in 18 states schools still paddle misbehaving children. It still works just as it did 50 years ago. It is just hte leftist states that demand absolutely no touching of the students and the lack of discipline reflects that rule.
Teachers, teachers unions and schools need to take responsibility for their failure and change their approach to everythign: including teacher pay.
